Last month a robbery was effected at Claremont Park House, in the neighbourhood of the city, and a quantity of silver plate carried away, and in consequence of which two boys were tried in the Sheriff Criminal Court on Saturday, and respectively sentenced to nine and twelve months’ imprisonment. About six o’clock on Saturday evening, the attention of that active criminal officer M’Levie, was attracted by the proceedings of two boys and a woman, whom he followed to the grounds about Arthur Seat, where he observed the boys take up some articles which were concealed by a heap of stones, and delivered them to the woman, who returned with them towards the city. M’Levie immediately apprehended the female with the property, which proved to be the silver plate carried away on the occasion above-mentioned; and shortly afterwards he took the boys into custody, who were identified as old offenders.
